Young Adults

The Maria Assumpta Young Adultz group, its members standing out in bright blue T-shirts, is a vibrant presence in the parish.

The MAYA group first came together in 2005, on the initiative of its founder, parishioner Grahame Russell. Local bush walks and Scripture study after Sunday Masses brought a steady increase in members.

In late 2006 the group began a wide variety of fundraising activities to send a contingent to World Youth Day in Sydney in 2008. Eventually eight group members and two adults were sent to experience this outstanding event.

MAYA's strength and commitment can be seen within and outside the parish community with bi-monthly Youth Masses, special outings, monthly regional Youth Masses and continuous fundraising to help fund youth activities.

The group also maintains its own website: www.freewebs.com/mayayouth
