Sacraments
Sacraments of initiation

Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist are the sacraments of Christian initiation.   They lay the foundations of Christian life.

Through Baptism we become members of Christ. This sacrament incorporates us into the Church and enables us to share in its mission.

If you have a child you wish to have baptised, please contact Father Dharshana on 483-7919 or Malcolm or Robin Steedman on 483-9490.

Confirmation increases and deepens the grace of Baptism. It brings about the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit just as this was granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost.

Reconciliation, also known as the sacrament of Penance, obtains God’s forgiveness for sin and reconciliation with the Church.

The Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Also called Holy Communion, it unites us to Christ, who lets us share in his Body and Blood.

If you have a child who is ready to prepare for Confirmation, Reconciliation and the Eucharist, please contact Father Endemann on 483-7919.

Preparing to marry

If you are planning to receive the sacrament of Marriage, please contact the parish priest 9-12 months beforehand. Couples wishing to marry in the Catholic Church are strongly recommended to attend a Pre-Marriage course -- ideally before they announce their engagement or at least six months before their wedding day.

The Pre-Marriage Education programme in Auckland diocese offers couples relevant and practical insights to help them handle the issues they will encounter within the life-long commitment of marriage.

The Pre-Marriage website is: www.catholicmarriage.org.nz/
